MARK RONSON EXCLUSIVE GUCCI SNEAKERS

Friday, October 23rd, 2009
guccisneakers2

Tonight Gucci launched a pop-up store at 43 Crosby Street. The concept is to showcase 18 different styles of NYC limited edition Gucci sneakers in addition to 4 unique styles designed by Mark Ronson. 1 Mark Ronson style will be released in each city where these stores pop-up. It was a Blue&Cream family affair attended by Bobby+Katie’s very own D. Stahl and Jay Errico from Nylon mag. Amanda Silverman heated it up with Evan Rachel Wood, while Andre Harrell was keeping it sexy for Mary J. Blige + her husband Kendu Isaacs. Also in attendance were Wyclef, Leigh Lezark, Claire Danes + Mischa Barton. Sarah Howard from beautybanter.com nearly missed the party as Zani Gugelman was busy chatting it up with Gucci designer Frida Giannini.

We’re sure there were others, but we were too busy checking out the fly kicks.

HBO NEW SERIES “HOW TO MAKE IT IN AMERICA”

Monday, October 19th, 2009
Blue&Cream owner Jeff Goldstein’s best friend growing up in NYC since Hunter Nursery School Ian Edelman is the writer + producer of a new HBO series “How to Make it in America”.  The Blue&Cream team visited the set today on Chrystie + Stanton at the basketball courts.  The show, from the producers of “ENTOURAGE” follows an “entourage” type crew as they try to make it in New York City’s retail scene.  Ian showed us around the set + introduced us to some of the actors+producers.  We met Luiz Guzman, Brian Greenberg+ Victor Rasuk.  Also on set was Erika Christensen who doesn’t appear on the cast list, but look out for a possible cameo? The show has a star studded cast, featuring regular appearances by Kid Cudi, Lake Bell + Eddie Kay Thomas.  Ian’s the real life story of how you DO make it in America. Check him out below on the set writing scripts on the spot, on the regs.

NINA WEXLER & HER SUPPORT OF THE BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FOUNDATIONS

Monday, October 19th, 2009

NinaWexlerProfilePic

It is no wonder that Nina Wexler is so passionate about supporting the breast cancer research foundations after having been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer herself (at left Nina and her husband Gary). It was also a no brainer when Nina approached Blue&Cream owner Jeff Goldstein and asked him to join her in hosting an event to showcase her one-of-a-kind FreeFingers gloves for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Nina had always loved to work with her hands but only recently learned to knit. It just so happened that her love affair with knitting translated into a celebration of individuality and a celebration for every cancer survivor. Made from the finest yarns, including cashmere, merino, silk and alpaca, Nina knits every pair of gloves herself of which no two are alike. On October 15, 2009 Nina’s family and friends joined together with Blue&Cream’s family and friends to celebrate her accomplishment of over 50 unique pairs of gloves. Guests enjoyed a cocktail provided by Svedka and browsed through the displays to find the perfect match. By the end of the night single pair of gloves had been sold of which 100% of the profits went directly to the breast cancer research foundations. What a great night of giving back!!! Click here for more information on Nina’s FreeFingers and for purchase!

BOWERY BOYS

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

Today there was a great item on style.com talking about Basquiat + The Bowery Boys. An exhibit in London of Nicholas Taylor’s photos of Jean-Michel Basquiat in the early 1980′s opens a window to experience the spirit of a time when the Bowery was still “The Bowery”. Today, there are remnants of what was once a neighborhood best known for graffiti art, CBGB’s+music, homelessness+drugs, but that era has truly passed. In these fast-moving times, it is important to look back + remember the culture from which we evolved.

CRAZY HORSE…

Thursday, October 8th, 2009
The B&C team hit up The Crazy Horse burlesque show on Thursday, their last night in Paris. There is a brand new show called “Desirs” that just launched 2 weeks ago. We bumped into NYC DJ’s Sal, Sinatra+Vitali as they held court with a bevy of models. Just as the show was about to start, who gets ushered+directly seated in front of us? None other than the Olsen twins (fashionistas might know them as Elizabeth&James designers) + their respective boyfriends. The show was amazing, I recommend anyone in Paris splurge and go see it.

ALL EYES ON RODARTE @ COLETTE

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

To many tourist’s disappointment- Colette is always closed on Sunday. Closing Sundays is not only a French retail tradition, its also the day when the new window display is merchandised.

Rodarte Designer Laura Mulleavy hands-on

It was our exclusive pleasure to catch Rodarte designer sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy working hand in hand with Colette owner Sarah Lerfel and her team to bring the new display to life with a clever ALL EYES ON RODARTE window and a LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD themed window.

Owner Sarah Lerfel flicks up the hair&makeup team

While the team worked, white gloved waiters brought in Bottles of Evian and Coca Cola Light on silver trays from a nearby Brasserie as hairstylists completed the coiffures featured mannequins Rodarte Fall 2009 looks. The mannequin positioning was changed over+over throughout the night as the team poured over the slightest details. Finally, at 2AM we stopped by to see the final reveal finished product.

YAY OR NAY-LADY GAGA’S FUTURISTIC SHADES???

Sunday, October 4th, 2009
Lady Gaga was just pictured in NYC rocking these futuristic Alexander Wang shades. Lady Gaga definitely rocks it out of this world. We’re buying them, but how do you think these will translate onto earthbound fashionistas?

ladygaga

Maybe ladies will just need a bit of time to catchup+assimilate, of which they will have plenty. Sunglasses will not be available in-store until Spring 2010 with a price tag of around $300. What will the future have in store for this futuristic line of sunglasses?

TREND ALERT-SEEN ON THE STREETS OF PARIS-DENIM SHORTS&TIGHTS

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

lily allen

Trend Spotted on the streets of Paris fashion week.  Denim shorts over tights + leggings.  At first glance, it seemed to us that this trendy look was perhaps for the girl who isn’t ready to admit that summer is over.  However, we started seeing this denim shorts+tights look again + again-Which led us to believe that this trend could actually catch on.  All over Paris, girls are wearing boyfriend denim shorts, ripped up denim shorts+embellished denim shorts-shorts over shiny nylon tights+sheer ripped up stockings in any combo you can imagine. Katie Holmes + Lily Allen have both been spotted recently sporting this Trend.

Katie Holmes

What do you think? Are denim shorts+tights here to stay or just a revival of a short-loved 80′s fad?
