One of the benefits of being around the corner from the original and last-man standing L.E.S. dive MARS BAR is the monthly, sometimes weekly artwork posted on the wall. This “STRIPE” mural was just put up yesterday.

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN FALL/WINTER10 – ROADTRIPPING

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
For Fall/Winter 2010 legendary British designer Hussein Chalayan takes us on an unexpected roadtrip through the USA. The collection travels from New York where the styles are long sihouettes of black blazers to Pennsylvanias Amish country to Utah in beige trenchcoats and earth toned capes. Next he takes us to Texas+New Mexico with bright reds+purples shown in detailed embellished coats and accessories. The final destination of Hollywood could not be mistaken with long embellished gowns and large “Mirage” sunglasses. Throughout the collection beautiful images of “Highway 69″ and the Starry Night Sky tie everything back together.

CHILDREN OF THE CORN

Sunday, August 8th, 2010
Vito Schnabel brought us an incredible experience, Terence Koh’s sculpture in the cornfields. The mailbox on the side of the road led cars into a maze of fields with the sculpture peaking out in the horizon.

MONTAUK MONDAYS

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010
Monday in The Hamptons is our favorite day of the week. Finally, we can grab some relaxation after the busy shopping weekend. Hit up Sagg Main Beach for the drums party or Georgica for Employees night (ask for Mole @ the door, say Blue&Cream sent you). Recently, we’ve been hitting up Montauk on Mondays for some great seafood and relaxing with friends. Last night, we dropped by Artist Raphael Mazzucco’s Montauk abode, ate grilled calamari salad from Harvest and watched as beautiful art was created right in front of our very eyes.

THE MET COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010
Last night celebs came out in full force to celebrate the annual Met Costume Institute Gala. The theme for 2010 was “American Women” featuring an exhibition co-curated by Vogue’s Anna Wintour.  We watched the red carpet for you and picked our favorites of the night. A popular trend was the neutral colored gown. SJP shined in a Halston Heritage golden gown and we loved our friend Kate Hudsons sexy Stella McCartney dress. Leading the way for the leggy stars were Blake Lively in a Mini Blue Marchesa and Gisele in Alexander Wang’s short fringy frock. Finally, we always love to see what unconventional looks pop up. And although we give Tina Fey and A for effort with her YSL jumpsuit we had to go with Chloe Sevigny’s Proenza teal number + Alexa Chung who radiates with confidence in her 3.1 Phillip Lim tuxedo ensemble. What do you think-did we nail it?

SHEPARD FAIREY HITS THE BOWERY

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010
Today on The Bowery shit was popping off. The day started off by police closing all streets with NYPD barricades for the motorcade of President Barack Obama. Obama looked right at us as his limo passed by Blue&Cream on the way to a speaking engagement at Cooper Union. Later in the day Shepard Fairey, coincidentally the artist famous for his work of none other than Barack Obama unveiled his latest creation, a giant mural wall on the corner of Houston + Bowery.

Shepard Fairey Mural Wall on The Bowery, NYC

The mural is kickass, an awesome artistic edition to our flourishing neighborhood. We caught up with Fairey and chatted about his recent Keith Haring Aids Tee-The original Patrick McMullan photograph is on display at our Bowery Gallery. Fairey was pumped when we gifted him a Blue&Cream “Bowery War Scene” tee and supercool about snapping some pics
