The traditional, French technique of découpage is the art of carefully cutting and gluing paper images to glass. Cutting artists carefully use miniature scissors to painstakingly cut the desired image from the background to prepare it for application. Each individual piece is then applied to the desired vessel using bristle brushes and découpage medium. After the pieces are applied, the glue is smoothed to remove bubbling and burnished to remove excess glue. To complete the process, the item is sealed, painted or felted to finish the backside and signed by Ben.
